2009 – A banner year for the Catholic Church

“I wonder on what basis anyone can say condoms make AIDS worse. The Pope is either stupid, ignorant or dim.” so says Richard Dawkins, speaking at a the University of Valencia after having been awarded an honorary degree. [LINK]
Dawkins was referring to the Pope’s comments in Africa earlier this year where the Pope said this about HIV/AIDS: “You can’t resolve it with the distribution of condoms. On the contrary, it increases the problem.”

I read an article recently which attempted to make the argument that religion and science are deep down intrinsically linked. You can read this article here [LINK].
The article is filled with logical fallacies, the most basic being the redefinition of “God”. Most faiths define god as a sentient super being, who hears our every thought. Nothing misses the point of itself quite so well as religion. People are morons. A recent story [LINK] describes how…
"Central Florida student Webster Cook, …is facing suspension after removing a communion wafer from a Mass held on-campus. Once blessed, these Eucharist wafers must be consumed immediately and Church leaders have said that Cook’s actions were offensive."
