Dan’s Hello

12 April 2006 One Comment

My buddy Dan is so funny. He can blog about anything, but usually picks things like the apostrophe or the Oxford comma. The topic of the day today was how to respond to "How are you?". I actually like the "not bad" response so from now on I’m going to ask Dan: "Are you bad?"

I also enjoy when people anticipate a "how are you" but they’re actually asked "What’s up?" (for example). They quickly answer "not bad". So you get an exchange like

Person A: "What’s up?"
Person B: "Not bad" *doh* kicks his/her self, switches gear anticipating the next question.
Person A: "How are you?"
Person B: "nothing much" *doh* turns red, later rents a hotel room in the upper west side and overdoses on pills.

Hey Francis. Dan here – the funny one.

“Whats up” is in itself leading. In the UK, it would suggest that something was wrong.
