It’s time to release Longtail!
Longtail is a sort of Web2.0 shopping site comprising of many features:
Through Longtail you can browse, search and purchase products from Amazon’s entire product catalog. When you search Amazon, Longtail will load eBay results in the background. When you view an Amazon item, Longtail will load Similar products in the background!
You can create Product feeds through RSS for Amazon Product data. This allows you to stay up to date on any set of products and their prices so you never miss a deal.

This is just too funny and reminds me of the classic off-beat comedies only on BBC2 or Channel4 back in the day (Bottom, The Young Ones, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer).
A group of 10 contestants participated in Channel4′s Space Cadets show. The contestants competed until there were only 3 remaining. These 3 were then sent to an “astronaut” training camp and launched into space!
The entire thing was fake of course and the only one’s not in on the joke were the so-called astronauts. For the last 9 days …

I am delighted and proud to announce the arrival of Gabriel Ethan Francis Shanahan!
Ethan was born at 9:10pm EST on the 7th of December (the 8th of December back home) and weighed 7lbs 8oz at birth.
Mother and baby came home Friday and are both doing fine. Sydney helped me dig the 8″ of snow we received. Pictures are now up.

My buddy Alistair Croll is teaching a class on Ajax and it’s effect on the the network at the Interop Conference this week. He’s just launched a blog over at http://www.bitcurrent.com/ and it’s well worth a read. I would’ve made the conference but for the birth of Ethan this week. It’s all about priorities folks

In 1999 I was lucky enough to be a part of a team working on building a website called MCY. It was my first 3 letter domain. I was the architect along with Sanjiv. This team was huge, roughly 75 people and had a wide range of skillsets; engineers, designers, testers, performance analysts, content strategists, information architects, consultants etc.
